A former Orange County doctor who used his work computer to look at images of child pornography has surrendered his medical license.
Robert Harold Dolin, 56, pleaded guilty in January 2014 to one count of possession of child pornography and was sentenced to 41 months at a low-security prison in Lompoc. He is scheduled to be released Sept. 17, 2017, according to online inmate records.
Federal prosecutors accused him of using his work computer to look at more than 1,000 images from January to April 2008, including some showing girls under age 5 being sexually assaulted by men.
Kaiser Permanente in Anaheim reported to federal authorities in 2008 that monitoring of employee computers had detected that Dolin’s work computer was being used to visit “child exploitation websites,” according to a Department of Homeland Security statement. Dolin soon resigned, court records say.
As part of his sentence, Dolin was ordered to register as a sex offender, a status that triggers the revocation of a medical license. A UC Irvine medical school graduate, Dolin had been licensed to practice since 1988.
His attorney could not immediately be reached for comment on Thursday.
