Abdominal Horror Stories at Kaiser Permanente

October 4, 2012 - Emily Phillips - Fresno, CA - According to court documents, Emily Phillips was taken to Kaiser Fresno Hospital by ambulance on the night of June 7, 2012, although she was not a Kaiser member. She had called 911 and was taken to the closest hospital. At the Kaiser Emergency Room she was evaluated for severe abdominal pain, nausea, and vomiting. A CT scan of her abdomen was obtained which showed a bowel obstruction, although the surgeon later told the patient that the information about the CT scan was not relayed to him in a timely manner, and that resulted in a delay in surgery, which did not occur until around 11 AM on June 8.
