ABOUT US MCRC| CONTACT| CONTACT FOR LYME DISEASE INFORMATION  kaiserpapers.com/lyme  | kaiserpapers.com Maps Showing Where Lyme and other Vector Borne Disease Has Been Identified Note; Reliable tick distribution and tick disease studies are sorely lacking outside of well recognized endemic areas such as the Northeast, the Midwest, and California. For the most part, such studies are either nonexistent, decades old, or poorly executed in other parts of  the country where Lyme disease is not acknowledged to be endemic.

Centers for Disease Control map showing the distribution of the American dog tick, Blacklegged tick, Brown dog tick, Gulf Coast tick, Lone Star tick, Rocky Mountain dog tick, and Western blacklegged tick. The maps also show the diseases known to be transmitted by these ticks. The list does not include all ticks in the United States.

-  TickMap is a product of the Walter Reed Biosystematics Unit based in the Smithsonian Institution (see link for WRBU above). TickMap (see graphic to the left) is a geospatially referenced clearinghouse for tick disease vector species collection records and distribution models within VectorMap (see link for VectorMap above). Users can pan and zoom to anywhere in the world to view the locations of past tick collections and the results of modeling that predicts the geographic extent of individual species. Collection records are searchable and downloadable, users can map and contribute their own georeferenced collection data or distribution models, and all contributions have full attribution. Currently, TickMap has 56,158 records.

California

California Interactive Map - The California Department of Public Health, Vector-Borne Disease Section (CDPH-VBDS) and its partner agencies collect and test ticks for tick-borne diseases as part of a statewide vector-borne disease surveillance program.  CDPH also collects information on reported confirmed human Lyme disease cases in California.

Washington Tick Distribution Map https://kaiserpapers.com/lyme/1990-lyme-study-washington.html   Reported positive results by area for Lyme disease, erlichia, heartworm, and anaplasma for canines. IDEXX cautions "Because so many dogs go untested for tick-borne diseases, the actual number of dogs infected by ticks is likely many times higher than reported figures". As is the case with human doctors, many veterinarians will not order tests if they believe that a certain disease does not exist in their area.
